Well, here goes my first post…This is an article on the future of the CPU (which is the chip that makes your computer go ’round) from Ars Technica. They’re (Intel) building a chip with 80 cores on it (surely, you know about the new dual-core chips and possibly quad-core) solely for the purpose of seeing what happens. I thought it was somewhat genuis, I mean, building an expensive and time-consuming thing like that just to experiment??? They want to see what happens because, obviously, it’s the direction they want to head in (building multi-core processors) and i guess it’s necessary to first find out…well, what happens when you try to fit that many processors on one chip. They deal with things like incorporating normally off-chip functions, onto the chip. And, of course, head over to Ars anytime you want the best in tech news.
